Traditional fishermen houses, known with the greek term “sirma”, are noticed as a cultural trademark of the islands of Milos and Kimolos.
Their owners today, tend to renovate the buildings and use them as bnb rooms to host tourists seeking for alternative expeiriences next to the sea, promoting exactly the mentality of our ancestors in terms of their land and nature.
Thir project is a delicate renovation of a traditional fishermen house in Agios Nikolaos of Kimolos, a tiny settleemnt in a creek facing east. Designed by the minimal dimensions but at the same time offering the luxury desired, hosts an ascetic summer lifestyle, two bedrooms are designed, a living room, a bathroom and small but practical kitchenette.
Life is orientated in the relationship between land and sea, unfolds outside and the interior hosts only the minimum human needs – sleeping & cooking.
